ListBuddy was created during a collaborative hackathon to address a significant challenge faced by individuals with executive dysfunction: managing and completing everyday tasks effectively. Many people feel overwhelmed by daily responsibilities or struggle to stay organized, leading to frustration and decreased productivity. Our team identified these pain points and set out to design a solution that would empower users to regain control of their to-do lists and celebrate progress along the way.

Problem Identification:
Many users felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks, leading to paralysis and inaction.
Traditional task management tools were often too complex or not tailored to individuals with specific organizational challenges.
Without visible progress or rewards, maintaining momentum in task completion was a struggle.
Exploration
Users can manually add tasks or let ListBuddy’s AI generate a tailored task list based on their input and preferences. This personalization ensures that the app adapts to the user’s specific needs.
Tasks are automatically categorized into “Active Tasks” and “Completed Tasks,” providing users with a clear overview of what needs to be done and what they’ve accomplished.
To keep users engaged, ListBuddy rewards a star for every task completed on time. This gamification element encourages consistency and celebrates progress, no matter how small.
Prototype
As the lead designer, I focused on creating a user-centric interface that is both visually appealing and highly functional. Key elements include:
Simple navigation and a clutter-free layout ensure the app is easy to use, even for individuals who struggle with complex systems.
Clear progress indicators, such as the “Completed Tasks” section and star rewards, provide a sense of accomplishment.
The design incorporates warm, inviting visuals that make ListBuddy feel like a supportive companion rather than a strict taskmaster.
Conclusion
ListBuddy empowers users to tackle their daily responsibilities with confidence and clarity. By simplifying task management and incorporating motivational elements, the app transforms an overwhelming chore into a rewarding experience. Whether users need help organizing household chores, work responsibilities, or personal goals, ListBuddy’s AI-driven approach ensures they always have a helping hand.
ListBuddy demonstrates how thoughtful design and innovative AI technology can solve real-world problems. By addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals with executive dysfunction, we created a tool that not only improves productivity but also enhances users’ overall well-being.
